Kodiak Island is the second largest island in the United States and is located about 250 air miles southwest of Anchorage. Many fly into Kodiak on one of several non-stop daily flights from Anchorage International Airport, on Alaska Airlines or ERA. Another option is the Alaska Marine Highway System, which allows for both passengers and vehicles to travel, via ferry, from Homer.
The climate is generally mild from May through September, varying between 50-70 degress, with the warmest temperatures during the month of July and August. Also known for its mild winters, ranging anywhere between 25-45 degrees, allows for very comfortable year round fishing.
Your plans can be as diverse as the island itself...whether you're a group coming up to fish, or a family looking to explore an entirely new part of the world, Kodiak Island has plenty to offer.
