FAQ
YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
WHAT DO I NEED TO HAVE WITH ME TO FISH?
All individuals are required by law to purchase their own Alaska state sport fishing license prior to departing on the tour. In addition, I highly recommend purchasing your license with a King Salmon stamp in the event that we get into these fish.
Fishing licenses can be purchased online at https://www.adfg.alaska.gov/Store/ or at several local retail stores in Kodiak such as Big Ray's or Wal Mart. Unfortunately we don't sell these fishing licenses at Happy Hooker Charters, so come prepared and PLEASE HAVE A PRINTED PHYSICAL COPY OF THIS LICENSE AND BRING IT WITH YOU ON THE BOAT.

WHEN AND WHERE DO WE MEET FOR THE TOUR?
Our tour departs from the docks at 6am (unless we scheduled a later departure with you) so plan to arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before departure to go over a quick safety briefing while we ensure everyone is carrying the proper licenses and all paperwork is completed.
The fishing vessel "Reel Fun" is located downtown in the St. Paul Harbor, off the corner of Marine Way and Shelikof Street, and is parked in slip B-1 (Bravo One).
HOW SHOULD I DRESS FOR THE TRIP?
HOW SHOULD I DRESS FOR THE TRIP?
Kodiak weather has a way of changing in a blink of an eye, and we'll go out rain or shine. Dress in warm layers and make sure to bring rain gear just in case. Boots are optional, but I recommend wearing a pair of comfortable closed toed shoes.
HOW IS OUR FISH PROCESSED?
At the end of the day we will deliver your fish for commercial processing. For a separate fee your fish will be custom processed to your specifications and equally divided among parties. Within 24 hours a professional crew will fillet, clean, vacuum- pack, and flash freeze your fish with individual attention. Please make your reservations to be in Kodiak for a minimum of 24 hours after your last charter too allow processors to clean and freeze your fish before you leave.
Whether you’re flying home with your fish as baggage or shipping it via FedEx overnight delivery, the fish processors will take care of you and have your fish ready in sturdy, foil insulated wax boxes. Rest easy and enjoy an evening out in Kodiak, knowing that your fish will remain as fresh and flavorful as the day you caught it.
HOW MANY PASSENGERS CAN THE BOAT CARRY?
The F/V Reel Fun can accommodate up to 6 passengers comfortably plus crew. Our boat is the largest 6-pack charter fishing vessel in the Kodiak fleet, giving you ample space to fish among your peers. Having a maximum of 6 passengers allows us enough time to work hard to fish for everyone's fair share of daily limits, and spend more time targeting multiple species of fish, allowing for a more enjoyable and productive trip!
The great thing about having a maximum of 6 passengers is having more space to fish with each other and less chance of tangling with each others lines, while giving us the opportunity to give everyone individual attention. Some charters can accommodate larger groups, and we are more than happy to give you recommendations.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
A deposit of 50% is due at the time of your booking in order to secure your reservation. Reservations are not confirmed until a deposit is received. There is no refund. It is highly recommended that guests purchase trip insurance in the event they cannot make the trip on the reserved date.
